Till now, it is more than 10 years. There are some achievements that some children can have simple communication in English. But most have some difficulties in English learning. The analysis of current problems in elementary English teaching such as less school hours, not enough teachers, all kinds of textbooks, obvious difference between English teaching in cities and towns, lack of learning environment etc. finds that teachers paid less attention on vocabulary teaching. Most experts and researchers point out that vocabulary is the central part of a language, very important. At the same time, experiments proved that children from one to nine years old, their brains reach the highest capacity in language learning. According to current research, the ideal age for learning language is early adolescence. The more motivated the child is to learn the new language, the more successful he will be! The students in elementary classroom are about six to fourteen years old. In China, we learn most English from English class. The quality of English courses and English teaching are tightly linked together. This paper follows the methodologies of reason, reference, and contrast to talk about the importance of vocabulary teaching in elementary classroom.
