Abstract

With the development of international communication and international trade, Foreign Language Education is more and more important for the economics of our country .As language is a tool, the aim of FLE (Foreign Language Education) is to train the students’ ability to read and use language. When reading, the leaner can get some information from the article .Also, it’s a way to exchange the minds between the leaner and writer .As we all know, the reader's vocabulary is a direct influential factor on comprehension skills. Usually, a Middle school student has about 3600 vocabulary .Under this condition, how students can scan rapidly and understand exactly is an issue worthy of explore.

In order to improve the students’ comprehension ability, we try to reduce the obstacles in the process of reading, including the new words obstacle. This thesis introduces some methods to enable students to develop skills easily. They are Steering Clear of New words, Guess the Meaning Method, Word-building Method. Besides it analyses how the new words affect students’ comprehension skills and so on.
