浅谈《红楼梦》服饰翻译方法

Abstract

Clothing is the crystallization of human wisdom, is the "second skin", is "silent language". Dress culture of China has a long history, unique, are gems of the world clothing culture garden. And a dream of red mansions concentration of Chinese                                                                                                                                                                                                  costume culture, clothing accessories of the characters in his works is various, nuanced, wonderful, lifelike, how to accurate, vivid and successfully reproduce the reflect of costume culture is undoubtedly the translator faces the difficult problems. However, there are few studies of a dream of red mansions clothing translation. This thesis selects two versions were a dream of red mansions (Yan xianyi and Gladys B.Tayler couple translation and Mr. Hawkes version) on the clothing style, material, color, etc of translation, discusses the English translation of them in a dream of red mansions dress by use of translation strategies and methods, to achieve the purpose of reproduction classics costume culture essence.
