Abstract

At present, owing to the increasing global interaction, translators are playing more and more important roles in such communication. Nevertheless, due to the problems with proficiency of many translators, there are still some problems with many translations which obstruct the proper understanding of the information conveyed by the original text. As a special kind of text, English financial news reports are characterized by a series of features which require that translator should consider such features carefully so as to guarantee the quality of their translation. That is the major concern of this thesis. That is to say, in this thesis, the translation of English financial news reports is analyzed in details under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. For the sake of the validity of this research, the financial news reports from New York Times will be selected to illustrate how to translate financial news reports. This thesis will help readers to improve their skills in news report translating.
