Abstract

Pride and Prejudice is a world wide popular novel published in 1813.This novel is about a story of love and marriage.It seems like a Cinderella Story that a rich, handsome hero with good birth loves a beautiful,kind-heart heroine without equal status and then he marries with her. But it is not only a Cinderella Story.Its author Jane Austen probe into a lot of themes such as what is love,what is perfect model of marriage and women’s right,etc.

    However, this novel is successful because of its special historical background. At that time，marriage was the only way for women to gain social status and recognition. Money and position are both significantly related to the quality of marriage.Jane Austen was aware of this inequality to women and wrote her discontentment for this system and custom in Pride and Prejudice.And it cause a lot of resonate from readers.
