Abstract

The Shawshank Redemption, as one of the most well-known movies in the movie industry. It reflects very symbolic American cultures such as American dreams, the pursuit of freedom, never lose the hope in life and American individual heroism. So for a very long time, this movie has been a very popular research topic. The American individual heroism in The Shawshank Redemption was analyzed in this paper from the perspective of the two important movie characters, Andy and Red. .And taking a deep explore on this movie helps us have a better understanding of the heroism

in American cultures.
