Abstract

Culture is an invisible factor in human beings’ daily lives, but it plays an important role in plenty of areas, such as management, operation of institutions, legal issues and so on. The thinking model or habits of human beings are influenced by various of cultures. For example, Indian consider cow as a sacred animal. Although cultural factors are not defined in laws, cultural factors influence the design and issue of laws. 

In the thesis, the author not only analyzes the characteristics of legal document, but also gives out some example to express these characteristics. In the first chapter, the author introduces research background, significance of research, literature review at home and abroad. The characteristics of legal documents are analyzed in the second chapter. In the third chapter, the author expresses cultural factors in translating English legal documents. In the fourth chapter, some translation strategies and related examples are given by the author in order to express the main idea of the thesis clearly. The last chapter summarizes the main ideas of the thesis, points out the limitation of the research and future research.
