汉英语言中的文化差异与翻译策略

Abstract. 

The main purpose of English translation is to convey the true meaning of the source text, so as to fuse different cultures. Language translation involves the cultural connotation of two different languages. The failure to pay attention to cultural difference during translation will easily lead to cultural default. On that basis, this article discusses the connotation of cultural default, focuses on discussing the causes for cultural default during translation, and presents some effective compensation strategies for the causes.

The main purpose of English translation is to convey the true meaning of the source text, so as to fuse different cultures. English translation is not only the literal translation of the source text but also a process of language exchange and construction. Because each country forms their unique culture in their long history of development, cultural difference exists in different nations and different countries. Many researchers engaged in translation point out that: English translation is not only simple language translation but also the translation of culture. Language is inseparable with the culture of a nation. Therefore, translation has the characteristics of culture. Deviating from the culture of a nation, translation cannot play its real role.
