Abstract

We know Ernest Miller Hemingway mainly through his famous novels, for instance For Whom the Bell Tolls; A Farewell to Arms, but actually he wrote many short stories of high quality. The Snows of Kilimanjaro counts among the best short stories of Ernest Miller Hemingway. The protagonist Harry is a writer and been seen as Hemingway’s self-portrait. 

The iceberg theory proposes by Ernest Miller Hemingway for the first time. The Iceberg Theory gets its name from the fact that  a large piece of freshwater ice only about 1/8th of an iceberg's mass is seen in open water，another 7/8th of iceberg is out of sight, hidden in the water

 My question is how the article reflects Hemingway's famous iceberg theory and why the article describes the death everywhere. This thesis states my view mainly from three aspects.
