Abstract

Hemingway, a spokesman of “lost generation”, is considered the most famous novelists of the 20th century. He has a legendary life experience, which was combined with his writing creation by him successfully. One and one more typical heroes of Hemingway appeared from his works. They share the similar features. They are human beings who are faced with failure or even death without losing their heart and dignity. Instead, they are fighting with their unfortunate fate bravely and show to us their grace under great pressure.

As we all know, The Old Man and the Sea is a novel with "Code Hero" -- a man can be destroyed but not defeated. Hemingway created a perfect image of Code Hero: Santiago. The Old Man and the Sea awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953 and won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1954. The novel is the one of the most influential and far-reaching novels of the literature treasure in the world. Hemingway put his spirit to Santiago who is the main character in the Old Man and the Sea, a representative of Code Hero
