Abstract:

Mansfield Park is one of the most famous novels of Jane Austen, but not the most popular one. Some scholars don’t recognize the virtues of the main character—Fanny, and think that she is a woman who is too conservative and biddable. But Mansfield Park is very important for the study of Jane Austen’s works because this novel clearly expresses the moral factors and feminism which are popular in Austen’s works. The main character—Fanny is a biddable woman, but just such a woman resists hard and fights for her freedom of marriage and realizes her self-value. Besides, Fanny keeps her noble morality even though she lives among people who lack of morality. This thesis studies Fanny from the perspective of morality and the realization of self-value. The study of Fanny is not only helpful for the deep understanding of the novel, but also useful for the reassessment of moral problems existing in that society and the value of women.

摘 要:

《曼斯菲尔德庄园》是奥斯汀最著名的作品之一，它并不是最受欢迎的小说，甚至有的学者人物主人公范妮是个过于保守顺从的女性，无法理解范妮身上的美德。但是《曼斯菲尔德庄园》是研究奥斯汀小说必不可少的一部，因为这部作品清晰的反映了奥斯汀小说中的道德传教和女性主义。小说女主人公范妮被塑造为一个顺从的女性典型，但就是这样一个女性为了捍卫自己婚姻自由的权力，做出了坚强的反抗，实现了自我价值，并且处在一群道德沦丧的人中间仍能保持自己高贵的品格。本范文就从道德传教以及女性价值的自我实现角度来研究范妮这一人物。我认为范妮是奥斯汀塑造的最为成功的人物之一，对范妮的研究不仅仅是对小说的进一步理解，也是对当时社会所存在的道德问题的思考和对女性价值的重新评估。
