Abstract

"Little Women" is one of the most well-known works of American writer Louisa May Alcott in the 19th century. Since the publication, the book has been warmly welcomed by the majority of readers, touched the hearts of countless readers, especially that of the women readers.It mainly tells the growing-up experiences of the four March sisters in Massachusetts New England during the American Civil War. The author describes the ups and downs of the story that takes place among the four sisters, depicting the women who constantly struggle against that era with the purpose topursue happiness and realize their dreams. This paper shows the common characters of these four sisters, reviews the development process of the Western feminism, and embodies the feminist thought about equality, independence, freedom and love marriage that the author wants to express, by analyzing the feminist profile of "little women".
