One Movie, Two Cultures — on “Kung Fu Panda”

 Abstract

“Kung Fu Panda” is a Chinese-style film that fully demonstrates the elements of Chinese culture. Many people think that this is a film that reflects Chinese culture. However, Western production teams will inevitably incorporate their unique cultural elements. For example, the individual heroism reflected in the film, the independent pursuit is the epitome of Western culture, in fact, the film completely reflects the value of Western culture. In contrast, we may find more values in both cultures, such as implicitness and directness, emphasizing the past and the future, collectivism and individualism. The film itself is the carrier of popular culture. It reflects the lifestyle of a country and a nation, human history and customs. Although the film "Kung Fu Panda" uses a rich Chinese element, it is a film that fully reflects Western culture.  However, with the globalization of culture, movies are no longer confined to a country or a specific region. It will be more integrated into different cultural elements and present a variety of humanities.
