Abstract

  Cross-cultural communication is now caused more and more attention by the people all over the world. It is not only the communication of language, but also the communication of culture. Language, as a carrier of our culture, has close relationship with culture, and of course it cannot exist without the culture. Because of the shortage of our pragmatic ability and cross-cultural communication ability, misunderstanding is always produced by the two parts of the communication and the result of the communication is not very good. There are three reasons: different mode of thinking, different value orientation, and neglect of context. So the ability to avoid the pragmatic failures is now more and more important during cross-cultural communication. Only if enhancing the consciousness of culture, improving language skills and cultural competence can you improve the quality of the cross-cultural communication. 

  This thesis mainly discuss the solution of pragmatic failure in cross-cultural communication nowadays. The cultural consciousness plays an important role during the communication. You need to be aware of the culture aspect and try to avoid pragmatic failure,and then you can improve result of the communication.The author classified different pragmatic failures specifically with the help of some scholars with their researches on pragmatic failures.
