On the Comparision of Aunt Zhao and Madame de Villefort

Abstract

This paper first points out the backgrounds and the main ideas of the two novels (The Story of the Red Stone and The Count of Monte Cristo), include the different backgrounds and the general portraits of Aunt Zhao and Madame de Villefort. Then expatiates their completely different social backgrounds, these two supporting roles have different social class and their envies and desires in social class are different. And then, it comes to their attitudes and harmful forms; this paper compares the two supporting roles’ different attitudes toward their relatives: parents,husband, son and other people. Finally, it’s about their same aim on the life, and pointing at their tragedy ending through their behaviors and writer’s intention to show her opinions of life.
