(a) Domestic research status

"A Dream of Red Mansions" is not only a classical literature of China but also was praised by all in the world. It’s always a hot and difficult problem. In 1978, by the Chinese scholar Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang co translation of a dream of Red Mansions by Foreign Languages Press points published in three volumes. Translation is a literal translation of the Chinese, clear and concise, with important research value.(b) The status of foreign research

In early 1830s, A British man named John Davis translated a version which was entitled "Chinese Poetry", it just contained the third segment of the literature. The year of 1842, "The Dreams In The Red Chamber" by Karl Gutzlofe translated the abstract of "A dream of Red Mansions". In 1846, Robert Tom translated the sixth segment of "a dream of Red Mansions", it’s called "Title Dream of Red Chamber". 1868 - 1869 E.C. Bowra Dreames of "The Red translation The Chamber", translated fist 8 chapters. 1892-1893 Bencraft Joly of "Dream of Red Chamber" translated the first 56 chapters. These translations have free-playing features, which caused inaccuracy of the content. In the 1970s. The translation of "The Story of the Stone"  by British scholars named Oxford David Hawkes and John Minford, was translated very carefully, which consider the foreign readers reading habits and feelings.
