Nowadays, there are many characteristic museum in Hangzhou, such as Silk museum, Tea leaves museum, Hangzhou style dishes museum and so on. After G20, Hangzhou is becoming more and more celebrated in the world, it’s a great chance for Hangzhou to introduce the scenic spots to foreigner tourist, especially the Hangzhou characteristic museum.

As we know, legends and stories are the majority of Hangzhou’s history, as an illustration, White Snake and Xu Xian, The First Silkworm Raiser Lei Zu, The butterfly lovers, Tea Saint Lu Yu, all of them are often heard and well-remembered in China, but the foreign tourists have know nothing about that. So the museums introduction text should not only write down the important timing about a person or an event, but also can put some history legend or stories for addition to making the introduction text becoming more amusing and being more readable.

Museum, as a matter of fact, is the best and the fast way to insight knowledge in the local historical exchanges, education, technology, development, customs and practices. However, some of museums’ instruction text translations are incorrect. Sometimes, they may miss translate very important part of the introduction text, sometimes they will mistranslate and it will make the foreign tourists get confused when they are visiting museums. In this years, there are many family tourist coming to visit Hangzhou, it’s very important to translate the historical legend and stories for family groups. Most of children do not have enough patient and attention to learning or realize a foreign city’s history and culture by reading boring data or documents. But historical legend and stories are good ways to makes children remember those knowledges because most of them are interested in stories.

But in fact, you have to recognize that there are historical and cultural differences between foreign countries and China and most of foreign tourist cannot understand or misunderstand Chinese traditional culture. Legend and historical stories are uncustomary and intrusting way to make them realized Chinese traditional culture easier.

Differ from adult, it’s better for museums to design some kids’ only handbooks which are colorful and easy to read just like storybooks and may give some special premiums on side, like a miniature dish model, mini oiled paper umbrella, and small bags of tea leaves. All of them could appeal to small children to reading those stories from handbooks and remember it, and it’s hard to forget, which is great to spreading the Chinese traditional culture to other countries. Also, those handbooks and special premiums can make small children interest in exhibits in the museum and have more appetite for knowledge and keep them from disturbing other tourist as well.
