On the Translation of English Idioms

Abstract: Idioms, beings an inseparable part of the language, are the instrument and shall think. It is a set of fixed expressions peculiar to a nation formed through the use of language over a long period of time, including colloquialisms, proverbs, proverbs, slang expressions and so on, making up one of the essential parts of language of country, They reflect the national colors of the native speakers and are said to be considered as the sinew of the language.

This thesis is a question of the translation of English idioms. After the usual understanding and introduction to the sources of the English idioms, the methods of translation are discussed from two perspectives. First，It is discussed three categories according to the relationship between English idioms and Chinese idioms. Second, six practical translating ways and skills are elaborated from the point of view of maintaining the flavor of the English idioms as well as catering for Chinese readers.
