Abstract

The Story of an Hour is a representative short story of American woman writer Kate Chopin. The novel uses streamlined texts to tell the story of a deep story, challenging the traditional marriage, expressing the doubt and denial of being a woman in a traditional family known as a “family angel”, which makes the male-centered society reality originally in the blind area to be presented in front of the readers' eyes, so as to challenge the women characters in the sexist literature , and reflects the awareness of female gender. The article also discusses about two kinds of translations of this story from Ge Lin and Yan Xuejun, who both are well-known scholars in Chinese translation circle. The paper makes an analysis and Comparison of two Chinese Versions of The Story of an Hour from the perspective of Dynamic Equivalence, which is the Nida's theory. Nida's theory of translation studies has exerted great influence in the world, especially his translation theory of "dynamic equivalence" has important significance for the translation work. This article is intended to use Nida's dynamic equivalence theory to analyze the difference of two translation versions, try from the vocabulary equivalence, syntactical equivalence and textual equivalence three aspects on the analysis of two Chinese versions of objective. The purpose of this paper is to improve the rational knowledge of translation, to advocate the purity of the source language, emphasize the disassimilation.
