浅谈功能翻译理论对旅游英语翻译的运用-开题报告

China is a country with thousands years of history, giving us a rich natural and cultural landscape tourism resources. Our characteristics of tourism resources attract large numbers of foreign tourists to visit China. With the improvement of Chinese international status, Chinese tourism industry will surely ento into a new stage.According to the World Tourism Organization prediction,by 2020,China will exceed other countries to become the world's largest tourism country, the fourth largest tourists exporter.

Then, there will be 137 million people come to visit China.

To develop the travel industy ,we need use variety of propaganda,including the translation of travel information .

Hence ,in the translation of tourism material,we shold try to merge the differeces,and seek the closest equivalence between our language and foreign language .So we can let tourists experience the unigue and colorful foreign culture.

Tourism translation is a kind of complex cross-cultural communicaton activity ,which permeates the culture, language and thinking.

The content of the translation is not the language symbol itself ,but carried by the language symbol culture.

But the present situation falls short of expectation. Functional translation theory is one emphasizing the functions of translation, which

takes translation as a targeted cross--cultural activity. This thesis makes analysis on the application of functional translation theory on

tourism English, base on the materials for tourism English and the principle of the theory, and brings up some translation skills for this purpose.

The translator , as i s argued , should not only be competent biling ually

but also ex cel in under standing and resolving cultural dif ferences.As long as he has respect for the source text , he is entitled to adjust or rew rite the source text in order to make his translation more comprehensible

and acceptable to the target reader and achieve the intended purpose and funct ion of the target text.
