In today’s society, more and more people realize the importance of family education, during the process of cultivate talents, countries in the world all attach importance to family education. In fact, although the family education in our country has aroused great concern, but so far there is still a lot of misunderstanding of family education in our country. This paper through the comparison of the family education between China and America, analyzes the reasons for the differences between the two countries in this respect and brings forward helpful enlightenment to family education’s reform in our country.
Many famous scholars both at home and abroad have devoted themselves to the research of family education. especially in our country, Since ancient times china has been a country attaching importance to family education , “孟母三迁”“断织教子”these traditional story still spreads abroad among the people. In modern times, Our country famous educationist Chen Heqin professor wrote "Family Education", she put forward in the book 101 teaching principles of family education. in abroad, American educationist Si Tena pointed out that: children are the parents’ shadow, the children all the good and evil conduct is learned from parents. In the child socialization process, parents is the most direct, the earliest mock objects, is an example to children 4]p86. Carle Witt in 1814 wrote "Carle. Witt's education", this book detailed record Carle’s growth process as well as own godchild attainment and the unique education method, educated for the humanity make the great contribution. In addition, Former Soviet Union educationalist Su Home Lynskey said that, Must be good at loving the child, the education true meaning is the love, loves the true meaning is for child's by spirit in warmth, the concern and the encouragement, but is not other anything[4]P35
According to the research by other scholars, family factors are obviously the most important thing of the social factors impacts on grow up of children. By comparing Chinese and American family education, I find that there are two different concepts on family education, Wu Chuhe [7] p59~p68 observes that the contemporary family education in china is still influenced by the traditional concept which parents mean the absolute authority and dignity. In family, all elder can educate the younger. The relationship between elder and younger is unequal. Parents usually focus only on certain aspects of the children’s growth, while ignoring the development of their personality. Parents do not treat their child as a separate individual but regard them as their property. Therefore, children are deprived of initiative and creativity.
Zhang Guimin argues that [3]p237 Americans emphasize on personality. Their value is based on individual-based individualism, focusing on personal interests, advocating personal development and self-realization. This is the core of American culture. In American families, parents treat the children as a separate individual, so children's self-realization is clearly to respect their wishes, ideas and interests. 
In sum, all the above studies have put forward valuable ideas. But I know every people will not always see things the same way, use different methods to achieve the effect of different also, Thus I hope that through observation and analysis the research results of China and the United States, provides a reference in correct our shortcomings and develop our strengths.
