中英情感表达的不同开题报告

In today's society, many native speakers of English have begun to learn Chinese culture, but few people have analyzed the different ways of expressing the same emotion between Chinese and English, and the reasons for these differences. Although the exchange of world culture makes this difference smaller and smaller, under the influence of traditional culture, obvious differences can be seen from the subtle. As Lian shuneng said in a comparative study of English and Chinese, any language in China and the West has profound humanistic attributes, and the differences mainly lie in the concrete connotation and manifestation of humanistic attributes. From the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western cultures, this paper tries to explain the similarities and differences between Chinese and English emotional expressions, and to seek similarities and highlight differences.

After introducing the background, I will compare the similarities and differences of Chinese and English emotional expression from different aspects. First, just like Sabini and Silver (2005) present a model of emotion language in which the link between emotional experience and emotion word is determined by the social context of communication. According to their view, emotion words do not necessarily map onto specific emotional experiences—on one hand,the same experiential state can be described by different words, as in the case of embarrassment and shame, but on the other hand, different experiential states might be described by the same word, as in the case of regret. Such a mismatch of emotion and lexicon is hypothesized to exist because emotion words are descriptions produced by an observer who infers certain psychological characteristics of a person, in a given context.

Second, the influence of Chinese traditional culture on Chinese emotional expression. In the book of Chinese cultural English written by Ye Lang and Zhu Liangzhi, it can be seen that in China's thousands of years of cultural history, Confucianism has the most profound influence on Chinese society. It can be seen from Chinese poems and novels. The expression of emotion in Chinese should be natural, reserved and implicit. Jin Lujie and Wang Hongyue put forward that the birth and development of Chinese native modernist poetry were mainly influenced by western modernism, but this can not separate its close relationship with Chinese traditional culture and poetics.(2018)

Third, he Feng agreed in his article "on the emotional characteristics and personality differences between Chinese and Western Literature" that the emotional expression characteristics in Chinese resentment literature are often resentment but not anger, or resentment is extremely sad; while the emotional expression in Western resentment works is mostly wild and vigorous, anger is more than resentment. In literature, Chinese poets generally express dependent personality, from self to society in reconciliation with society, while western poets often express independent personality in literature, and tend to self in opposition to society. In a word, due to the differences in cultural traditions, the emotional characteristics and personality types of Chinese and Western literature are obviously contrary to each other.(1999)

To sum up, there are similarities and differences between Chinese and English emotional expression. Different cultures create different characteristics. I hope to learn from each other and inherit Chinese excellent culture under the background of cultural integration.
