The nature of translation

Translation is not the beginning of the 21st century, but an ancient activity. Scholars have never stopped exploring the nature of translation. Linguists and translation scholars both at home and abroad have explored the essence of translation deeply, and through consulting a large number of materials, it is found that scholars have their own unique views on the "essence of translation". The study of the nature of translation is conducive to the spread and development of translation culture.

Will ponder a question: "what is translation". At first, people simply thought that translation was a relatively independent subject, and it was easy to understand the culture and history of one's own country. In fact, translation studies is a highly flexible and open subject. In the field of translation studies, many famous scholars have conducted in-depth studies on translation. Fu lei, on the other hand, analyzed translation from the perspective of the effect of translation. "translation should be like painting, pursuing likeness in spirit rather than likeness in form." To have a deep understanding of a concept, we should explore its origin. Just as people's research on things goes through a process from the shallow to the deep, from the surface to the inside, people's understanding of the origin of translation is also a process from the shallow to the deep, from the abstract to the concrete.

Translation studies is a comprehensive discipline, "it is closely related to many disciplines and artistic categories, from linguistics to literature and art, philosophy, psychology, aesthetics, ethnography, mathematics, logic and the new semiotics, informatics, etc." (Chen fukang, 1992:2-3) therefore, throughout the development history of translation studies, we can clearly see that there are various schools of translation studies, and different schools conduct multi-angle studies on translation problems with the help of theories of different disciplines, including the study of the essence of translation. With the introduction of theories of different disciplines, our understanding of translation has been constantly deepened and expanded, and the essence of translation has been revealed in many aspects. With an eye to the establishment of the discipline of translation, studies on the nature of translation have been conducted in a broad sense for a long time without distinguishing between literary translation and non-literary translation.
