Khaled Hossein's novel kite runner is an autobiographical novel. Since the beginning of the world, the commentary on the kite runner at home and abroad has never ceased. In general, their study of the novel involves the following aspects: the affection, the friendship, the image of Hassan, the image of the kite, the growth of the hero, the racial discrimination and the background of the war. But because the publication of the novel is not long, and the novel is mainly about the betrayal and redemption of the hero, Amir's betrayal and self redemption under a social background of war and racial discrimination, one of the indispensable themes of the novel, and the study of it by the academia. It is rather scattered and few, lacking a systematic and overall summary and integration. In this regard, this article will focus on exploring the betrayal and redemption of the full text in the novel, including the betrayal of Amir's good friend Hassan, Amir's father's betrayal of Amir and Hassan and Hassan, and the redemption of his father under the condemnation of his conscience.

This article is divided into four parts. The first part mainly introduces the current research status of the novel and the racial discrimination and war background in the novel so that readers can understand the background of the novel. The second part mainly discusses the betrayal among the characters in the novel, mainly studying Amir's betrayal of Hassan, Amir's father's betrayal of Amir and Hassan's father and son.
