一、Literature Review

Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte, is a novel filled with many emotions and activity. Her characters represent an on going conflict between love and hate. Published in 1847, Wuthering Heights didn’t gain immediate success, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural. It was not until 1850, when Wuthering Heights received a second printing with an introduction by Emily’s sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. Today it is widely regarded as one of the great novels of English literature.

So far, lots of scholars abroad and at home study the characters, love and hate in the novel mainly from the perspective of feminism and narratology, stylistics and realism theoriesthe. Such as the translation of the Wuthering heights of England Emily Bronte by Yan Hong Mei and Zhang Yun analyzed the relationship between the character of Heathcliff and the strong love between him and Catherine. So analysis from many sides to analyze the best part of this novel—the impressive love have a great meaning.
