一、Literature Review

Recent years, many practitioners have devoted themselves to the study of language and culture, Guanglei Chen (1992) pointed out that every language is a product of culture, its ‘use’ and ‘body’ are reflected in every cultural characteristics. vocabulary is the essential material of language and one important element of language, this paper proposed the cultural learning about exploration of vocabulary culture and vocabulary metaphorical culture which paly a key role in cross-cultural language learning.

Vocabulary consisted of simply words and idiom(set phrases/common sayings/proverbs/vogue words/slangs etc…), such as Anthroponym﹑Toponym﹑Lexical phrases are content geography﹑history﹑economy﹑politics﹑ethnic and other cultural connotation. Like the American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson’s simple sentence ”Language is archives of history”. For some vocabularies, the semantic based on cognitive metaphorical thinking, we call it vocabulary metaphorization, this phenomenon is discussed by conceptual metaphor theory,as a paradigm in cognitive linguistics. “research and perception, knowledge-related human language” (Wen-xu,1999). Laknff and Johnson(1980)”The Metaphors We Live” suggest that metaphors not only make our thoughts more vivid and intersting but that they actually structure our perceptions and understanding.

Surveying the literature, we find that make a well understanding of vocabulary in language, we shoud make sure the cultural etymology of words and take a cultivate metaphorical thinking, it can help language learners to avoid inadequate application and misunderstanding in cross-cultural language learning which are caused by cultural differences.
