浅析“冰山”下的老人与海-开题报告

Hemingway was the winner of the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature. It can be said that he is the greatest literary master with writing charm in the American literary world since the 20th century. The protagonists in his works are all tough men. In terms of the use of words, Hemingway created a straightforward, concise and personalized fresh style. Such unique writing style and ingenious writing skills made The Old Man and the Sea exert a huge influence on the literary world as soon as it was published in the United States. His new style, the iceberg theory, is the unique symbol of Hemingway's works, and is well known by the world.

Hemingway had participated in many battles, as a war reporter, he often sent the news back to China by telegraph, so the language must be concise and to the point, which created Hemingway's "telegraph style" writing style, and sown the seeds for the iceberg theory. The "Iceberg Theory" proposed by Hemingway refers to the description of icebergs above the water, and the part hidden under the water should be associated with the part above the water. The Old Man and the Sea is a true story Hemingway heard in a small Cuban fishing village, but he did not just tell the story, but also mixed the author's understanding of life into the story, turning the story into a parable full of life philosophy. Hemingway's iceberg theory has been greatly extended and played in The Old Man and the Sea. This paper takes The Old Man and the Sea as an example to analyze Hemingway's writing style and writing techniques in the novel as well as his writing style of "Ice Theory".
