Translation is a kind of cross - cultural communication and exchange activities. It refers to the meaning of a language to express the meaning of another language to convey the cultural activities. 

Nowadays, with the development of globalization, the world’s political, economic and cultural communications are becoming increasingly frequent. Especially China’s entry into WTO and its open-up policy, cross-cultural exchanges are increasingly frequent between this country and others. English as an international language, English Chinese translation plays an important role in our daily life and work. However, the differences between English and Chinese cultures that are reflected in the two languages pose considerable difficulty. Translation is a bridge of communication between different languages in the process of language communication and the way to eliminate the differences between languages. It is very important to grasp the conversion between the two languages. 

Text is one of the most important ways to exchange culture for a long time. People need to understand and absorb information as well as the cultural background knowledge in order to get more accurate understanding of information. Different languages can be transmitted among people holding different languages. Due to subjective factors, people look at translation from different angles, so the standard is also different. We are engaged in any translation practice must follow certain principles or standards to make the translation more coherent and understandable.

If a wide range of cultural background knowledge and extensive reading experience will maximize the reduction of English language to the negative side of translation, increase the positive role, such as humor and irony. In this paper, the conversion of parts of speech in translation study, is conducive to the development of translation skills, to make the translation image and vivid expression translation more smoothly an idiomatic.

In my point of view, the development of society has deliberately promoted the way of people’s thinking. People from all over the world have enjoyed the convenience since the translation system and theory is perfect enough, and translation principles and techniques are more scientific and systematic, e. However, we cannot neglect that there are still some problems in this field in China, and we have less influential Chinese translators in the world. Moreover there are still significant limitations in using the traditional translation theory to guide English translation. Therefore, we still have a long way to go in translation. From the functional point of view, we need to combine with a large number of translation instance, from the lexical, syntactic and discourse level analysis system to make the characteristics of English. Meanwhile, according to the characteristics functional Theory to give the guidance of English translation, and propose some specific English translation principles, strategies and techniques.
