Project background："Macbeth" was created in 1606, and together with Hamlet, Othello and king Lear, these three works together constitute the "four great tragedies" of William Shakespeare. Macbeth in similar works in the human nature and the character psychology is more focused on the critical expose, is the psychological description, in Shakespeare's plays and is considered to be the most dark side in Shakespeare's tragedies. The role of the play because of its unique and depressing tragic, both to strengthen the aesthetic experience of Macbeth, also shape the very distinctive character, is the nods eyeball pen of the script.

Purpose of the research:Among the four great tragedies of Shakespeare, Macbeth can be said to be the most thrilling than Hamlett, Osero and King Lear. The author breaks the tragic pattern of the European tradition and makes Macbeth such a murderous and rebellious man as the only tragic hero of the four tragedies. Macbeth's unique tragic characters have aroused great interest in the research of Chinese and foreign scholars. The analysis of Macbeth's tragedies in academic circles has been divergent. Some people say it is "human tragedy". Some people say it is "tragedy of fate", some people say it is "the tragedy of ambition". It is also said that the "social tragedy".. but as a "character tragedy", and taking this as a breakthrough point to the "Macbeth" is not much. I take this as the center point, the change of "Macbeth" the protagonist's psychological process and character. 

The brief introduction of William Shakespeare:William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright who is now regarded as the greatest writer of the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist."the father of British drama". His surviving works include 38 plays, two long narrative poems, one hundred and fifty-four sonnets, and a few other poems. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamlet and Judith. Sometime between 1585 and 1592, Shakespeare moved to London, where he found success as an actor, writer, and part-owner of the playing company the Lord Chamberlain's Men ,later known as the King's Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613, where he died three years later. Few records survive concerning Shakespeare's private life, and considerable speculation has been poured into this void, including questions about his sexuality, religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were actually written by others. Shakespeare produced most of his known work between 1590 and 1613. He at first wrote mainly comedies and histories, genres that he raised to a peak of sophistication and artistry by the end of the sixteenth century. He then wrote mainly tragedies until 1608, producing what are considered some of the greatest in the language, including Hamlet, King Lear, and Macbeth. 

The synopsis:Shakespeare depicted how Macbeth, who was once a powerful hero, sank into a tyrant bringing calamity to the country and people. That reflected his individual ambition and lust for power, which destroyed human nature and showed us the essence of anti-humanity caused by the extreme individualism. Macbeth begins as the heroic warrior who, together with Banquo, fights loyally in support of his king against rebels. Upon returning from his victory, Macbeth and Banquo encounter the three witches, who prophesy that Macbeth shall be thane of Cawdor, and king hereafter, and that Banquo’s children will succeed him on the throne. As Macbeth knows nothing of Cawdor’s part in the rebellion, the prophecies are incredible to him. However, with the first prophesy immediately confirmed be emissaries from Duncan, king of Scotland, Macbeth’s blood-thirsty ambition has been greatly stirred up by the witches’ miraculous prophesy. And when Duncan is on a visit to his castle, Macbeth, who is spurred on by Lady Macbeth, takes the chance to have the King murdered. But Macbeth soon finds that one crime is not enough to keep the crown for him. To keep his crown, he abandons reason to mindless savagery and plunges from covert to open slaughter. He murders Banquo and kills Macduff’s wife and children and others. Thus, Macbeth has degenerated into a tyrant and mass murderer. While Macbeth flails about him, killing suspected as well as herself, in her sleep, hag-ridden by horror and remorse. Finally she commit herself suicide. Macbeth also experiences a kind of mental disturbance, haunted by the involved all the people of Scotland who are groaning under his yoke and longing for liberation. When the opposing forces march forward, the people eagerly join them in fighting against the tyranny. In the closing scene, Macbeth’s isolation becomes complete. As his castle is surrounded, Macbeth is reduced to a trapped animal and meets his final doom. Malcolm wins the kingship. In the atmosphere of superstition, sin and horror, the author occasionally lets his sinner ponder, reflect and analyze his heart. The psychological changes before and after the prince of Macbeth and her husband and wife seem to be distinct, which increases the depth of the tragedy. 

Research contents:"Macbeth" as a model of the description of the psychology of Shakespeare in the four tragedies, it shows us the process of transforming a hero of repeated wonders into a cruel tyrant, and thus exposes the influence of greedy desire and extreme ambition to the people, thus making the drama pervaded with a gloomy and fearful atmosphere. This paper analyzes the tragedy of the protagonist from three aspects of the character change from justice to evil, inner conflict, tragic internal cause and external cause. A man's character determines his fate. This article starts from Macbeth's character, and analyzes how Macbeth turned from a respected chef to a cold, grumpy man. It reveals the reasons why personal ambition and power desire engulf human nature and Macbeth's tragedy. And from Macbeth's tragedy, he will understand the tragedy of life and enjoy the tragedy, which is also a sign of mature life and sound personality. Although the valuable things of life in Macbeth are destroyed, we should not forget the revelation of the tragedy of the protagonist's character to us, and we should not forget the question of human nature, good and evil, values, and the questioning and thinking of fate and existence.
