A Brief Analysis of

Foreign Research Status 

Wuthering Heights is the only novel of British writer Emily. Bronte, when it was published in 1848, did not cause much attention, even the plot and the characters in the book caused great shock is also regarded as a kind of disgusting terrorist.   Wuthering heights partly inherited the novel about terror, violence and genie gothic tradition, but it is far beyond the gothic novel, and it was the Victorian romantic novels are very different also, when people realize that all of its value, is already half a century later, no matter on the thematic structure, or in terms of artistic conception, works show the writer unusual ingenuity, especially the novel the hero.

Wuthering Heights is a wonderful book in the history of British literature, more than one hundred years, it is gripping story , poetic scenery description ,lifelike characters, attracted generations of readers and around the world. Contemporary famous British novelist and creators Maugham(William Somerset Maugham ,1874-1965) should request of the American journal of The Atlantic Ocean in 1948 to introduce readers the ten best novel of world literature, one is Wuthering Heights .In finally , he writes:“I don’t know what a novel in which the pain of love, infatuation ,cruel, persistent ,so amazing. Wuthering Heights reminds me of El Greco one of those great painting . In the picture is under a cloud of dark view of the barren land, thunder rumbling long gaunt figure stagger , be a kind of not belong to the worldly emotions trance thing , they hold one’s breath. Lead the color of the sky over a flash of  lightning  , give this scene with the last pen , added a mysterious sense of terror.” Also  the British critic Arnold. Kettle in the book "an introduction to English novels", the third part deals with the novel in the 19th century, there are also special to Wuthering Heights for longer comments, he concludes: "Wuthering Heights in the form of artistic imagination expressed in the capitalist society in the 19th century people's mental pressure, tension and conflict. This is a no ideals, no false comfort, there is no hint that power to manipulate the fate of the human struggle and action. For natural, wild with the storm, powerful stars and season summons is true enlightenment life itself is an important part of the movement. Wuthering Heights of the men and women not prisoners of nature, they are living in this world, and try to change it, sometimes smooth, but always painful, almost continually meet with difficulties, constantly make mistakes."

The tune of Wuthering Heights, also always harmonious resonance with the new generation after generation .This is about the realistic meaning of novel forever.

Domestic Research Status

Wuthering Heights the unique artistic charm and reflects humanistic knowledge also attracted a large number of domestic research of literature lovers . For the artistic features of the novel, the novel unique environment description, dark side of depression technique, gothic art technique used in the analysis of the artistic features of the novel, and the story structure and narrative features. Some scholars from the social background and story structure analysis of its theme, some scholars also reflected in the works of the Victorian women pursuit marriage love self study.

Some scholars carries on the analysis on the gothic art technique , most scholars  still will mainly focus on the analysis on the men and women in Wuthering Heights master’s psychology, character, image . Based on the hero Heath cliff's mad revenge, to analyze his origins of revenge, explore the tragedy of his life. Due to the tragedy of the hero Heath cliff living research analysis reflects the social tragedy and modern life significance’s guidance advice. There are a lot of research Wuthering Heights ，such as “Revenge and Love”, by You Liu You Ping , GeZhi Hong works of “modernism in the theory of Wuthering Heights”, and so on . Our country focus on the study of Wuthering Heights in writing technique, the characteristics of the characters and the cause of the tragedy .
