文献综述

Education as a part of human culture, takes an important position from past to the current for both China and the West. As a normal person, school is more close to our daily life, more easy and direct for us to understand them. Thus next paper will be focused on studying classroom culture. 

Classroom culture contains several aspects, mainly going to study is four points as below. 1.about interaction between teachers and students during class separately in China and the West;  2. class hours a student totally spend per day from a large scale; 
3.general teaching method that Chinese teacher and Western teacher used;  4. there is a new Classroom culture popular these years, it’s like this: Chinese teacher teach foreign student, and foreign teachers teach Chinese students. When two kinds of person from totally different cultural background meet together, it appear a new phenomenon, just like chemical reaction, which is deserved to inspect.

From it, it can be seen that Western Teachers is more like to interact with students during class, the class atmosphere may be more active in a certain way, but when class over, we may find there is no so such more knowledge can be learned. In China, teachers are the leading figure during the whole class, they may do not have too much interaction with students, but they are good at guide students learned more knowledge with limited class hour. Besides from it, it showed that Asian Countries including China is the longest one who spent hours in Class per day; Western students usually have their class over at early of afternoon. Of course, it’s just one of the ways to know the classroom culture between China and the West, still needs more material to study deeply.

To know and understand a totally different culture, learning their advantages and advanced technologies, open our eyesight etc, exchange learning their classroom culture is also a great way to achieve it.  That’s just like above mentioned: let Chinese teachers teach foreign students, and let Western teachers teach Chinese students.

Now no matter in Chinese schools or Western Schools these years, more an more schools open second language as one of their major classes, more and more excellent foreign teachers were brought in China and the West. Such as in China, English has been one of College Entrance Examination Subjects. Local students have more opportunities to experience another total different classroom style.

Further more, living condition of people nowadays are much better than ever before, more and more students have another chance to choose going abroad for further education, or someone may go to international school instead of normal kindergarten at their early age. According to 2016 data display, there are total 597 international schools in China, which had already exceeded UAE, be the top one in the world. It can be clearly seen how important education is for people today. Of course, these atmospheres cause several educators’ attention, they set up a numbers of groups, go deep among these international schools or even go abroad to investigate foreign schools to know deeply the difference of their teaching way. At the mean time, more and more foreigners come to China School to learn Chinese.

By exchange learning, each side have more choices to experience different classroom culture. It brings positive effect, of course, it’s also hard to avoid dispute. According to the data showed by Ivy League College Admission, the drop-out rate of Chinese students which entered into Harvard, Columbia, Yale University is 25% . High drop-out rate reflects huge difference in Cultural communication between China and the West from a macroscopic perspective, and from a micro point of view, it was proved that’s related to their school education from Childhood. Traditional Chinese class is usually listening to teachers all the class, students may do not have too much opportunities to express themselves, not good at team work, lack of the ability of self-learning and so on. Even though like this, we should not refuse it. Cause generally watching, it’s positive effect is obvious and inspiring. For example, traditional Chinese teaching way is more helpful on students’ comprehension and grammars compared with Western School education. A TV show invited several Chinese teachers come to England to teach their students math and chemical, after one month, they went with an exam between students who separately taught by English teachers and Chinese teachers, the final result is students taught by Chinese teachers win with high scores. From this we can clearly see Chinese teaching way is good at comprehension or skills in a certain way. What’s more, by exchange learning is really a good way to promote Chinese Culture to the world, it attracts more and more foreigners learning Chinese, enjoying Chinese Culture, as well for Western.

Classroom Culture is colorful and diversified. It related to our next generation, should be full of colors, should be paid with highly attention. Studying and learning other countries’ classroom culture is not only about knowing, it is also helpful on enriching our classroom culture, students may have more chances to know the outside world, experience a totally different culture, open their horizon, build a new outlook on life and the world. Even though, at current, there are lots of materials, books, TV programs, it’s still worth to analyzing and studying it.
