一、Literature Review

（一）The research status of foreign translators on Chinese poems and proverbs

The creation of classical Chinese poetry is an art, and meaning, phonology beauty and formal beauty of the harmony and unity. The sense of beauty, in its English translation, not only can not be lost, but also to enshrine.

Poetries translation practice and its corresponding research have experienced a great boom in recent years, which is not only of great reference value for translation practice and translation theory construction for Chinese classical poetry, but also of vital significance for the Chinese culture to go global. The tang dynasty represents the peak of Chinese classical poetry, poetic beauty, prosperity in tang dynasty. Its translator represents are mainly Morrison, Richard, wei great Alexander, Mr Joseph, Jacob Davis, Chris parker and debugging, etc. Poetries translation studies main characteristic are the ancient Chinese poetry translation studies given priority to, diverse research perspectives and research theme. However, the existing problems and trend forecast: the research object is too narrow, lack of understanding of related disciplines, lack of study motivation and foreign translators are difficult to combine the social background and comprehensive understanding of the author.

Proverbs date back from life. It reflects the marrow of culture. Because of the differences of origins, religious beliefs, humanistic ideals, moral views and life and work experiences, Chinese proverbs carry on different cultural characteristics and information. It has everything with culture and can't be separated from each other. In this paper, I set some typical examples to discuss the cultural differences between English and Chinese proverbs from the respects of religious beliefs, humanistic ideals, moral views and life and work experiences. Due to cultural differences in English and Chinese proverbs, the same words may display different ideals. Translation plays an important role. Be literal translation, free translation or literal translation combined with free translation, it should be in accordance with language features and cultural backgrounds. No matter what method to choose, we must follow it, “Translation consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, first in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style.”

（二）The research status of domestic translators on foreign poems and proverbs

Foreign poetry translation on the formation and development of Chinese new poetry has played a huge role. But failed to combine the original poetry in translation, the foreign poetries are free verse misunderstanding which caused by the negative effect. Since the 1980 s, some domestic poetry translators in the translation of poetry pay attention to restore the original rules, Mr Bian zhilin called "art of poetry translation is adult". Foreign poetry rules of display and the study of the theory of the modern Chinese poetry, creative practice, contribute to the establishment of Chinese modern poetry, thus promote the healthy development of Chinese poetry. In foreign poetry translation practice, due to cultural differences between English and Chinese, mainly in religious cultural background, values, customs, etc., when the phenomenon of cultural differences in translation needs to retain or cannot at the same time, can use literal translation, free translation, interpretation, translation strategies such as add or delete information. In the foreign poetry translation practice, however, the domestic translators fail to accurately grasp the foreign culture and customs, etc. So, we need to know more about religious culture background, values, customs, etc. So that we can more accurately grasp author's thought in the translation practice.

Foreign proverbs are multitudinous, but they are only a small part of the occupation which eventually corresponds with Chinese proverbs, when translation, we should not chase corresponding views of the strip to seek two languages, that is not only a futile effort, moreover can appear farfetched, nondescript. Because there are not only the same significances and hides righteousness in the two languages, moreover same or the more or less the same image and the analogy, or the same ways of expression reasons, English proverbs in translation practice can adopt and apply mechanically the synonymy Chinese proverbs.

In summary, the translation of English proverbs must manifest its bright national characteristic, the profound thought and excellent artistic, moreover pay attention to its cultural connotation. therefore, in translation, we must deliberate repeatedly, the words must be concise, the sentences must be succinct, and pay attention to the sound, for achieving to read smoothly, by advantageous for the memory. So translating English proverbs well can have a lot of help to enhance our English accomplishment and the expression ability without doubt.

In my point of view, the development of the society to a certain extent, has deliberately promoted people's way of thinking, translation system has become more and more perfect, people from all over the world have enjoyed the convenience. However, we can not neglect that there are still some problems in this field in China, and we have less influential Chinese translators in the world. Therefore, we still have a long way to go in translation.
