一、Literature review

（一）Domestic research status

The influence of film and television works on society is self-evident. However, the related research on film translation is relatively insufficient. Qian Shaochang, a famous scholar in China, once pointed out clearly: "the number of audiences (audiences) of translated films far exceeds the number of audiences of translated literary works, but on the contrary, the translators attach far less importance to film translation than literary translation." 

In recent years, people have been paying more attention to film and television translation, and some film and television translators have gradually increased their research awareness. Many universities have begun to pay attention to this field for their master's degree, doctor's degree and college teachers, but there are still few relevant books and academic papers of real value.In this field, there are several accomplished scholars, such as Shi Chang, Li Yunxing and Ma Zhengqi. Professor Qian Shaochang highlighted the importance of film and television translation in his article "film and television translation -- an increasingly important field in translation field"(2000), and summarized five characteristics of film and television language based on his years of translation experience, namely, audibility, comprehensiveness, instantaneity, popularity and inattention. Professor Li Yunxing analyzed the characteristics of subtitle translation from various aspects from the perspective of text translation and an example through the article "subtitle research strategy"(2001), and proposed corresponding strategies. Professor Ma's introduction to film translation (2005)can be said to be a monograph on film translation studies in China.The use of linguistics, translation, communication and the basic theories of such disciplines as semiotics and hermeneutic and research methods, this paper discusses the principle of the dubbed film and television works, to our country the film dubbing work carried on the thorough and systematic research, and creative analysis from the perspective of aesthetics, film dubbing, the pioneering landmark film translation study.

In addition, professor Ma's article "on the basic principles of film translation" combines a lot of lip-lynching and popularization. It's very professional. In short, Chinese film and television translation research started late and has not yet formed a corresponding theoretical system. The theoretical weapons used in the research are rather old-fashioned, such as skopos theories, functional equivalence, cultural pair, etc.

（二）Research status abroad

The study of film translation in the west is much more advanced than that in China. In comparison, the research results of European scholars are more remarkable. Examples include Finland's Gambier, Greece's Karamitroglou, Sweden's Ivarsson, and Spain's Chaume. Gambier has conducted an accomplished research on the classification, strategies and techniques of film translation from the perspective of linguistics, such as the translation of idioms.In addition, a large number of related journals and monographs edited by him have made great contributions to the study of film translation in the west. Gottlieb of Denmark is also the most systematic scholar in the field of film translation studies. 

In addition, there are also some western conferences with the theme of film and television translation studies, focusing on subtitle translation.In February 2004, for example, an international symposium on "language on screens" was held in London, where more than 100 academics conducted academic exchanges. It is undoubtedly an academic feast and plays a great role in promoting the study of film translation. In October 2005, an international academic conference was held at the university of bologna in Italy on the theme "text between images: the latest research in film translation".These academic conferences have gathered many western translation scholars and professionals. In addition, many relevant academic organizations have also been vigorously developed, such as the ESIST (European Association for Studies in Screen Translation), which is the most influential academic organization in the field of film Translation Studies in Europe.
