The dialect study background in China

   The study in Chinese dialect contains theoretical knowledge and practice,it can help developing Chinese.As a country China has a long history and so dose Chinese language,and Chinese dialect involve the study of pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar.

   

Nowadays,dialect has become more and more valued,people also think its intangible cultural heritage and needs to be protected,after all its important heritage from our ancestor and product of culture and ancient history. 

   And dialect often be related to culture and knowledge,people usually judge another person by their accent,to see if they are literate or not.it’s humiliating to be assumed as unliterate. After all it not objective to judge people by their accent or whether they speak dialect or not.At the long history of China,the dialect of Shanxi use to be thought of the manifestation of literate,because the city Xian use to be capital for many years

   In China,our national language also been called mandarin,is developing from the dialect in Beijing,And it has only a few hundreds of years’ history.But of course technically mandarin is based on the standard pronunciation of Beijing dialect,and the grammar of modern vernacular.Thanks to the Yongle Emperor move the capital from Nanjing to Beijing,at the same time brought numbers of literati and cultural ancient books into Beijing ,made the city Beijing into the culture center of China.

   The concept of dialect first appear in the Zhou Dynasty ,so called one side of the different language.dialectology is study to the linguistic differences.Narrow dialectology is the study of the linguistic differences of territory,as known as language geography.generalized dialectology contains the study of regionalism language differences and the social language differences,it also have close relative to sociolinguistics.

  

  Vocabulary is aggregate of the language,vocabulary from dialect has differences.even between the same dialect area,also has differences.numbers of vocabulary,reflect social lives fast and directly.it has it’s own system,function and characteristic.vocabulary has differences in source,root and morphology,and it;s from investigate to life words.Vocabulary has it’s own system,and need to be investigate in real life.Vocabulary also can develop by changes,it will not stay the same all the time,it also have it’s own variation,needs to do comparative study to the differences,find its common and differences.  

The dialect study background in America

   Statistically,over three hundred million people use english as their first language.almost out of ten people there’s one speak English.Different country at their long-term using process of English has form their different English variant.They keep the characteristic of English,and also add different feature from standard English.Sometimes even in the same country,under the result of different history geography and social developing,again,appeared some English different from standard English,and also regional English.This kind of English are called English’s regional variant---English dialect.

  

   In America,people from different region have some differences in pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar.If we study America English from their history,we will find that America English was developed in 17th century base on England English.Early years,British colonizers were coming from Northern region of England,at that time there are lots of English dialects,even though lot of people’s English are under the influence of Shakespeare and Spencer,some of the most famous writers’ language back then,but also is the confluence of all kinds of English dialects.Because of that,colonizers bring dialects from all regions into America when they move to American continent.And America English,is British English’s variant when American colonies has been exploited.This variant are under America’s specific geographic environment and historical conditions,step by step,developed into American English dialect.See it from the big picture,American English dialect can divide into four obvious and representativeness dialect regions.

Northern Dialect,including New England,New York City and some northern area.

Northern Midlands Dialect,from westerly Ohio river Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

South central Dialect,there are Virginia from southern mountain area,Tennessee and North Carolina.

Southern Dialect,East Virginia and Georgia.

In western country,some people can also judge other person by their accent.for example,in a very long time,French is considered as the most elegant and literate language.as for the 18th and 19th century’s Europe,especially Eastern Europe,in those noble culture salon,people are proud of speaking french,if you speak national dialect,you will be considered as uncivilized person.
