The Story of Stone is one of the four works. It is a highly ideological and highly artistic quality 

work. This famous novel shows that the writer Cao Xueqin has the preliminary democratic thought. He

criticises the decay of the feudal family, feudal 

imperial examination system, marriage system ,slave system, grade system and so on. Aunt Zhao is a 

victim under these unfair systems. The Story of 

Stone has many character images,  they have 

different special and uniquely character traits, The 

writer uses his special language to show us a tragic character——Aunt Zhao. She has a low social class. During  her lifetime, she is a slave and then , she becomes an aunt .This is a difficult and  hard procedure .(The Slavery World of The Story of Stone, Zhou Xishan,2006,3,1) Although she is an aunt, her social class still is very low.many many people are looking down on her,even other slaves. She is not permit to look after her daughter, because she is just an aunt not a wife. The strict  grade system and marriage system are the The most basic source in that time.(The Law World of The Story of Stone,Yin Yijun, 2007,7,1)When she is permit to look after her son Jia Huan, she is so happy and hope that she can get a high social class and plenty of wealth.. In order to get these things, she make a plan to skill Jia Baoyu and Wang Xifeng, But, the social system in that time tell us that Aunt Zhao must faild. Her aim is good for her son, but the activities are stupid andharmful, therefore, her ending is a tragedy.

       The Count of Monte cristo  is famous as a popular fiction all over the world. The writer Dumas,A is also called ‘The king of popular fiction’ by 

futurity. This novel is a typical work. Although It 

has no deep philosophy, it is much popular with 

people in the world, no matter content or form. Thisnovel is an artistic features connection for 

Dumas,A 's works. French critic Henry Lemettel said that ,”Dumas,A is writing a whole novel.’ This 

novel describes plenty of special persons, even the 

not important person, just as Madame de Villefort. 

She is different from Aunt Zhao, for example, socialclass, the backgrounds, the harmful forms......But

they have a same aim: for their son. The madame 

play an important part during the revenge course of the count of Monte cristo. She also represent a 

tragedy in that time.
