From the Nineteenth century till now, many people have studied situational teaching method in Primary School English Teaching. They all agree that this teaching method is wonderful and useful in bring students’ enthusiasm into English study.e.g.Zhang jianzhong a Professor of foreign language education, East China Normal University. In his book Primary school English Education (2016), he expresses his views point about how should teachers use the situational teaching method in primary school English. He thinks that it is necessary for teachers to use multimedia and a variety of intuitive teaching aids in teaching, and that some English presentations or songs will also improve students'  learning interest. I think he is right. Students like active and vivid circumstances rather than rigid ones. If teachers could use situational teaching method, students will become the main characters in English learning.
Some foreign educators, such as Socrates, Dewey, Rousseau, Sukhomlinski and so on, have advocated and practiced situational teaching, and left their thoughts and experience on situational teaching in their educational works and teaching practice.
Socrates, an ancient Greek educator, was engaged in teaching and often created certain situations for students to think, explore and solve problems on their own initiative. He inspired and encouraged students to take the initiative to learn by creating problem situations.Dewey, an American educator, also attaches great importance to situational teaching. He advocates using teaching situations to arouse students' learning motivation, implement teaching plans and evaluate teaching results. Soviet educator Sukhomlinski often took the children to nature in the experiment of teaching reform to stimulate students'interest in learning and develop their imagination and aesthetic ability. He can make full use of the colorful circumstances of nature to educate students.
All these educators emphasize the effectiveness of situational approach to students'English learning and its significance to English teaching. Situational teaching method is to let students understand the relevant knowledge more intuitively by setting up a vivid situation related to the teaching content. However, in the current primary school English teaching, there are still many problems in the application of situational teaching method, There are four main aspects: the traditional single situational material, the rigid classroom atmosphere, the lack of interaction between teachers and students, and the influence and restriction of English usage environmentthe. Therefore, my research may focus on these aspects.
