Most English reading materials are written by native English speakers and infiltrate the cultures of the English speaking countries. High school is a very critical period for students to learn English. However, due to the heavy learning tasks and the tight time in high school, many teachers ignore the culture teaching, which leads to the lack of a certain cultural awareness in senior high school English learning.
Some English teachers pay too much attention to the English scores of the students, to students listening and speaking, reading and writing ability is very important, for a large number of repeated and monotonous training, but in the process of training, has been the focus in the basic grammar knowledge, but ignore the culture teaching.
The students lack of English cultural background knowledge, do not understand the western social system, local customs and practices, customs and people's way of thinking and values, will not be able to quickly and accurately understand the English language contains information in the actual meaning and the real intention of the speaker. This is disadvantageous to students' reading comprehension study.
