Introduction:
Research Background
English linguist GeorgeW. Wilkins points out in his book linguistics in language teaching that” without grammar,little can be conveyed; without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed”,[1]where the importance of vocabulary in English learning can be seen. Without vocabulary, people can not effectively carry out various activities such as listening, speaking, reading and writing, and cannot express thoughts and convey emotions. The theme of this paper is to study vocabulary teaching in high school English teaching. Vocabulary teaching is the foundation of English teaching and pays an important role for students to master English. The new round of curriculum teaching reform puts forward higher requirements for high school English teaching, and pays attention to students' mastering English basic knowledge, including pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and application, etc., and the improvement of these abilities is inseparable from vocabulary learning.In the new situation, college entrance examination English requires students to master no less than 3,500 English words, and examinees need to make rapid and accurate use of the basic meaning of these words in different contexts.[2].The increase of vocabulary makes it more difficult for students to learn English. Students have to master a large number of English words within limited learning time. The traditional learning method of memorization is no longer applicable. Teachers need to make new English vocabulary teaching plans based on students' actual conditions, guide students to summarize the rules of vocabulary formation from the combination of English vocabulary sounds, forms and meanings, adopt diversified vocabulary teaching methods, guide students to master vocabulary learning skills, and improve the efficiency of high school English vocabulary learning.

2、Analysis of current English vocabulary teaching in high school
With the implementation of the new curriculum standards, the teaching philosophy, teaching forms and teaching methods of English teachers’ English vocabulary teaching have changed. Teachers not only impart knowledge, but also pay more attention to students' emotional education, and cultivate students' comprehensive ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing.However, in terms of vocabulary teaching, teachers do not pay enough attention to it. The following problems exist in our high school vocabulary teaching:
Didn’t highlight the key points   
There’s no teaching method specific to vocabulary teaching
The frequence of new vocabulary appearance is low 
Lack of systematic vocabulary learning
Lack of cultural awareness

2.3  This paper analyzes the meaning and current situation of high school vocabulary teaching in China, and points out some strategies for high school vocabulary teaching.
2.3.1 The combination of vocabulary teaching and phonetic teaching
2.3.2 Using associative memory method to carry out vocabulary teaching
2.3.3 Use English to define and explain words
2.3.4 Instruct students to master English word formation
2.3.5 Use Contrast method for vocabulary teaching
2.3.6 Teach vocabulary in context
2.3.7 Instruct students to identify the parts of sentences and discourse
2.3.8 Review in time and make strong repeat n time
