The Silk Road was a great invention of the ancient people of our country. Ancient westerner’s understanding of China was closely related to the Silk Road.so that later generations called the communication channel  "The Silk Road" between China and the surrounding world. As a practical channel for Chinese and western cultural exchange, the silk road has a very long history. The ancient historical documents of our country have never been able to generalize a special name in the land route of many countries in central Asia, South Asia, west Asia, and Africa. Many scholars since 19th Century have tried to make up for this deficiency.In 1877, a German geographer Ferdinand von Richthofen in his publication of China: Ergebnisse eigener Reisen unddarauf geründete Studien, In the first volume, from 114 BC to ad 127, China and the river region, as well as between China and India, the silk road trade as a medium of this western route of transportation has become the Silk Road.Then in 1901, a German historians Albert Herrmann in his famous chapter Die alten Seidenstrassen zwischen china and syrien, the silk road is advocated to extend the western end of the great Mediterranean coast and Asia minor. Herman's views were immediately supported by some Western sinologist, and gradually accepted by the academic community.

At present, the academic research on the silk road research should be the Peking University professor Lin Meicun, professor Lin Meicun in fifteen lectures the archaeology of the Silk Road said the Silk Road is an ancient and medieval from the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, India, central and West Asia, North Africa and Europe to connect, silk trade as the main medium of cultural exchange road. Therefore, the Silk Road plays an important role in the history of China and the various economic and cultural exchanges between the East and the West.

   Shen Fuwei, a famous scholar of Suzhou University.wrote the study of Silk Road and Silk Road, mainly on the domestic study of silk road. He pointed out in his book: the silk road was originally on the eastern and Central Asian history unknown to Europeans, after after field visits from a large number of historical relics in the understanding of the western region, Chinese was sparsely populated in thousands of years ago had a glorious history, and in ancient Asia the eastern region and the Mediterranean, due to frequent diplomatic exchanges, commodity exchange, dissemination of religious and cultural exchanges of essential traffic, also had a glorious history to sit up and take notice.

   Zhang Guogang, a famous scholar of Tsinghua University, discusses in his book Silk Road and cultural exchanges between China and the west said The Silk Road was a great invention of the ancient people of our country. Ancient westerner’s understanding of China was closely related to the Silk Road.so that later generations called the communication channel "The Silk Road" between China and the surrounding world. As a practical channel for Chinese and western cultural exchange, the silk road has a very long history.He studied it at the same time in the Spring and Autumn Period.the silk trade has been carried out between East and west along the Eurasian Road, now known as the Silk Road. During the Han and Tang Dynasties, silk was not only a major trade item on the land transportation line in the north, but also an important gift from the Chinese government for western countries. Chinese and Western cultural exchanges have existed before the Ancient Epochs when silk has not become a major trading commodity. The emergence of the grassland road and the Oasis Road is the concrete manifestation of this kind of communication. They can be said to be the precursor of the Silk Road. In short.the Silk Road is not only a main artery of communication between Chinese and western economic. political. military. religion, folk custom. culture and ideas. is also a huge cultural carrier comprising people of all ethnic groups in the countries along the Silk Road. the traditional literature. art. music. dance. opera. drama. acrobatics. magic. painting. calligraphy.etc..
