   There are differences between China and the West in terms of social and cultural traditions, values and norms of behavior, which makes the political, economic and cultural exchanges between China and the West have a cross cultural communication. The most widely involved in intercultural communication is the communication of language. Language is the carrier of culture in communication. It not only contains the cultural background of different ethnic groups, but also reflects the way of thinking of people. Pragmatic competence in language also includes two rules: one is to be clear, the two is to be polite. Politeness is a complicated social and cultural phenomenon. It exists in all cultures of human beings, and involves all aspects of human communication and all aspects of human communication. Politeness is a common phenomenon among different societies and groups, but different languages and cultures have their own ways of expressing politeness. In different languages and cultures, politeness is used to communicate in order to reduce the pragmatic failures in intercultural communication.

Language is the most extensive study of intercultural communication. Language is the carrier of culture communication. It includes not only the different nationality's cultural background, and reflect people's way of thinking. Politeness is the common phenomenon of every society and every group, but different language and culture of the country has its expression of politeness. A ccording to the differences of the Chinese and western politeness principle, The paper explores how to use the language communication politely in different language and culture background.

Language, as the carrier of culture, is an inseparable part of culture, which reflects both the culture and the culture. In different social environment, the use of language is also different. Chinese and western different historical background and developing process lead to the great cultural differences between them. With the rapid development of economy, the economic and cultural links between China and other countries are getting closer. With the deepening of mutual understanding, the culture conflicts between eastern and western countries are increasing. Language exchange is the main form of communication, and the use of language has a close relationship with culture. So “Cultural differences and language reflects”  has became an important issue of cross-cultural communication. In future, the ability of cross-cultural communication will become an important basis for us to move towards the world。
