From 1999 to 2000, the British Council conducted an international survey of primary school English learning. The survey found that many countries started primary school English education in the 1980s. some of the research on education theory of foreign language has a great influence on our English education in primary school as follows: The rationalist and empiricist view of the British linguist West Cohen, the language acquisition mechanism of American linguist N. Chomsky, Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget's theory of epistemology and so on, which have brought theoretical foundation to the establishment of English teaching in primary schools.

In our country, the English curriculum for primary schools began in 1999, and generally began in the third grade of primary school. In recent years, experts, scholars, English teachers and graduate students of universities in China have conducted in-depth research on English teaching. 

Some research from the experts and scholars are of great significance to the establishment  of English teaching in primary school, In the current situation and reflection of English teaching in primary schools in China, the feasibility and inevitability of English development in primary schools in China are analyzed from the perspective of Chinese history and the new international situation of globalization；Yang yi, in the current primary school English education present situation and countermeasure from the primary school English learning phase has carried on the analysis, pointed out the influence of this stage of English learning and teaching and the problems and some solutions are put forward.

Others have played a role in promoting the development of English teaching in primary schools. Li Jinhua about vocabulary teaching in primary school English education in our country present situation and countermeasures are discussed in the study of the importance of English vocabulary, and put forward to adopt the associative memory method and intuitive approach to vocabulary teaching； Quan-Jun Li and JiZhiLin in the theory of multiple intelligences in diversified teaching can improve grades in primary school English teaching, applying the theory of multiple intelligences to the primary school English classroom teaching, the children from the primary school English teaching, game, life, analysis of different teaching methods.; Guo Xiaoping discusses the significance of games in primary English teaching in primary school English teaching;  Junjie H U, Daxi G U. An Effective Way to Improve the Primary School English Teaching argues that exploiting and utilizing curriculum resources is an effective way to improve the primary school English teaching; Arikan A.in as a small-scale study based on 46 teachers' answers to a questionnaire, the study found that pupils appear to be passive learners since teacher-centered activities continue to be used. Also, vocabulary, speaking, and pronunciation are considered as the most; Fu ChunYing in how to design the article on primary school English teaching discusses how to design scientific and effective teaching, from teaching goal, teaching process, and after class impressions three aspects talk about how to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching.

However, English teaching in primary school started later in our country than in other countries, and the English course in primary school is not compulsory in our country, but optional.  After several years of practice, the problems existing in English teaching have been highlighted. So I browsed hundreds of primary school English teaching mode and problems, downloaded and studied a lot of articles, Although a lot of research has been done, most of them are from a single aspect teaching or learning, my study is from the perspective of improving teachers' quality and cultivating students' learning motivation, comprehensively analyzes the methods of improving English teaching. I hoped it will help to the improvement of English teaching in primary school.
