The two languages ​​of English (Indo-European system) and Chinese (Han-Tibetan system) belonging to different language families have gradually developed their distinct characteristics. The two languages ​​exist in terms of pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure and language taboos. There are many differences. Understanding the differences between the two languages, the characteristics of the difference analysis is one of the links that many language learners must pay attention to, and it is of great significance.
The difference in sentence structure is an important part of the comparative study of English and Chinese. Its research history has a long history and runs through the entire history of English and Chinese comparative studies.
Zhao Yuanren, who was the first to do a comparative study of English and Chinese in foreign countries, wrote a comparison of Chinese and English intonation in 1933. The comparative study of English-Chinese or Chinese-English in China can be traced back to Ma Jianzhong's Ma Shi Wen Tong published in 1898 and Yan Fu's English Han Estimation.
According to Mr. Liu Chongde, the old president of the Chinese-English Comparative Research Association, the history of comparative studies in China can be divided into three periods: the first period of 1898-1949, which can be called the comparative study of English and Chinese, from Ma Jianzhong's Ma Shiwen And Yan Fu's "English Han Estimation" counted until the end of the 1940s. During this period, the comparative study of English and Chinese has achieved remarkable results from grassroots to development. “Although there are problems with transplantation, it includes serious identification and unique creations. It has made tremendous contributions to the establishment of Chinese linguistics and created a tradition of choosing good use.” This evaluation should be said to be appropriate. of. 1949-1976 was the second period of comparative study in China. For various reasons, the comparative study of this period was almost stagnant, and the results were as good as the morning star. In 1977, Lu Shuxiang published "Comparative Study of Grammar", marking the beginning of the third period of comparative research.




Second, the purpose of the study

Many college students will face the fourth and sixth grade English exams during their college years. In the context of the 4th and 6th English test reforms, translation is one of the most changed parts. From the original examination of English translation to English translation, from the original five single sentence translation to the current whole Segment translation, the proportion also increased from the original 5% to 15%, which made many students complain.
