1, Research purposes and significance

The language and culture are interdependency, the language is a part of culture, while culture embodies through the language. Translation is a communicative process and instrument of two language community with the goal to transfer the information of the original version to target version without any deformation. Because of the close relation between culture and the translation, culture may have an effect on the translation to a large extent. It’s conductive to achieve the criteria of translation (faithfulness, expressiveness and gracefulness), having a wide knowledge of culture. Therefore, translation is not only means the conversion of Chinese and English but also a communication between two cultures. So translation as a kind of cross-cultural communication activities is play a part of language exchange, more important that it is play a part of transfer function on cultural connotation.

2, Domestic research status

Over the past two decades, there are two obvious trends in translation studies: the first is the embodiment of the communication theory in the translation theory, the second is the attention on the cultural transformation is deeply shaken the tradition of the language transformation. In other words, Because of communication and culture both own the people-oriented characteristics, and the humanities concern has a high degree of attention in translation, it is strengthening macro grasp, and expand the translation field of vision, strengthen the cultural fusion function of translation work in translation theories. The same countries in different historical periods of people also have different culture. Culture is material wealth and spiritual wealth which is created in the process of human social and historical practice. It includes behavior, arts, beliefs, customs and all other products of human work and thought. In a word, culture is the historical precipitation, which has historical inheritance, nationality, locality and diversity. Culture varies from place to place, it also has a growing changing at the same time, therefore, the translator should follow certain method to deal with cultural differences, and these methods should also keep pace with the times. The Following are a few ideas for your reference:

3, Foreign research status

The foreign translation of four common studies is embodied in the integrity of the system, expounds the theoretical, targeted on the purpose and content of creative.In 1995, the United States translation theorist Lawrence Venuti formally put forward “foreignization” and “domestication” the two translation strategies.

Eugene Nida--American translation theorist pointed out that “Translation is the communication within two cultures. As a kind of successful translation it is more important to be familiar with these two cultures rather that knowing it because words can only be significant in the cultural background" It shows that translation should be combine eastern and western cultures, it is unlikely to be the real communication between two languages without cultural background. However, the difficulties brought by the differences between Chinese and western culture is not allow to ignore, these differences tend to cause the loss of cultural imagery or distortion

4, The development tendency

Language is the carrier of culture, and culture is the accumulation of all aspects of human society and life. Cultural differences need translators with accurately bilingual ability and rich cultural knowledge to communicate. And because of the different text function, different text for cultural differences also have different requirements, the processing of their respective translation purpose determines the tendency of dealing with cultural differences and approaches. Translation is a communicative process and communication tool between two language societies, whose purpose is to promote the language progress of the society political, economic and cultural, and whose task is to put the original image works contained in the real world of logic or artistic image, intact to transfuse from one language into another language. Of course, the culture is continuous to develop, and the foreign exchange will gradually frequent and thorough, with the cultural differences is increasingly narrowed, processing methods will be adapted.
