With different living habits and cultural customs in China and the west, we have different understandings of dragons. Mastery of Chinese and western cultural differences and its history and culture connotation can let people really understand another culture in the cross-cultural communication of meaning, so I hope under the existing research situation to the Chinese and western dragons made unified the contrast and analysis, find out the similarities in culture, analysis of the differences, let people have a more profound understanding and on cultural understanding. 

As for the differences between Chinese and Western Dragon cultures, Zhu Jun, Li Xuan (2015) pointed out in A Comparison between Chinese Loong and Western Dragon from the Perspective of Cultural Metaphor that Chinese Dragon and Western Dragon are not only different in appearance and function, but also have opposite Cultural metaphors. In China, the dragon is a sign of good luck and a symbol of Chinese national spirit. And profound Chinese cultural, from emperor class to the folk, from astronomy to geography, from the official to unofficial history, carved from painting to poetry and prose vessels from all kinds of buildings to clothing, from vocabulary words to legend story, from the worship to festivals, nowhere is not in the brand of the dragon, is one of the most important symbol of China, is the existence of nots allow to ignore. However, the western dragon culture has a derogatory meaning. The dragon is a symbol of evil and evil. It needs adventure and courage to defeat the dragon and gain wealth. The differences between Chinese and western dragon cultures are reflected in their origin, image, symbolic meaning and use. In addition to The differences in cultural connotations mentioned above, in terms of The origin of The Dragon, China has The Dragon as a Totem, and Xu hui (2011) introduced it in detail in The Totem Culture of Chinese Dragon. In his book the origin and essence of Chinese dragon, Pang Jin (2007) put forward the idea that dragon originated from neolithic fuzzy combination. Regarding the origin of Western dragons, Liu Yuan  (2015) divided them into Seraphim in Traditional Christian Angelology and Dragon in the Bible in the Cultural Differences of Chinese Loong and Western Dragon. It can be seen that although there is no accurate account of the origin, the origin of western and Chinese dragons is indeed very different.

To sum up, although dragon has very different meanings in Chinese and western cultures, as a kind of culture, both Chinese dragon and western dragon are very unique cultural symbols with rich cultural connotations. The discussion of dragon culture can be said to be a discussion between different national symbols and a collision between Chinese and western cultures. The differences between Chinese and western dragon cultures and their respective cultural connotations need further study.
