The development and the future of Modern English Education in China

Literature review

China has a long and deep ancient civilization, a world leader in the long feudal society. As a result, the old feudal education is no longer necessary to meet the needs of social development. So, the reformation of the old education system is urgent, therefore, the new education emerged at the right moment. In contemporary China, special education and modern English education, with its unique form and function in the education reform process, in promoting China's modernization of education has played an extremely important role. The last three years of English education in the development process, we can see that the Ministry of Education attaches great importance to English education, especially investment in independent study based on computer and network resources and the ability to hear, it is obvious to all.

English education in China's modernization process, the development of education will be affected by external factors, political, economic, social, etc. Historically, Chinese English teaching across to now, nearly 30 years after their contact with each other in reform and opening up to each other effects to overseas education and English teaching in Modern China provided some inspiration.

Currently teaching English Situation:

First, teaching methods remain obsolete. Although the basic stage of language teaching materials are prepared in accordance with functional ideas syllabus, highlighting the principle of language communication, yet still traditional pedagogy mode: talk about voice, repeat words after speaking grammar, the final text of the lecture. These explain the knowledge of the language is still in isolation, rather than in the sentence, discourse is carried out, is called "wear new shoes to take the old road." We examine the existing teaching methods performed at the same time, we should actively study and try to adjust development and enrich the existing method of teaching English. Specifically suitable for China's national conditions of teaching foreign languages ​​remains to be studied.

Second, the quality of foreign language teachers themselves need to be improved. According to the survey, China's English teacher quality, professional level and teaching investment is not optimistic. Especially in the case of continuous enrollment in colleges and universities in recent years, the quality of teachers, teaching English team building is the bottleneck for further development. The reasons are mainly the following aspects: Because of the heavy task of teaching, no time to improve their professional and business level; poor treatment of teachers, teaching can not feel at ease; lack of good equipment and supplementary materials. To reform this situation, teacher training without delay, which is English teaching reform a top priority.
