As the most celebrated festival, Christmas and Spring Festival both influence billions of people, many aspects of two festivals have been analyzed, whereas few of them compared the two important festival. Some difference and similarity will be discussed in this article.

As known as December 25 is the date of Christmas, which is often mistaken for Jesus's birthday, however, there are few clues when was Jesus Christ born exactly, it was just implied that he was born at night not far from Caesar Augustus order that a census should be taken of the entire Roman. McGowan concludes that we cannot be entirely sure how December 25 became Christmas, "Yet the actual date might really derive more from Judaism, from Jesus’ death at Passover, and from the rabbinic notion that great things might be expected, again and again, at the same time of the year, than from paganism.".

Unlike Christmas which is totally imprecise in the Bible but fixed, the date of Spring Festival is precise but unfixed, in addition, the definition of Spring Festival varies several times. At the earliest, it was celebrated in the spring exactly for thousands of years, this is why its name is a spring festival but now we celebrate in winter, the date depends on Lichun, which signifies the beginning of spring in Chinese calendar, which is fixed, corresponding to a varying date of the Gregorian calandar. Modern Spring Festival which decreed on the fisrt day of Chinese calendar by Shikai Yuan, the first president of first formal President of ROC, it took place only 102 years ago, seems much younger than expect.

In all, climate of the occident and orient have been influencing their culture for thousands of years, comparison between Christmas and Spring Festival help us learn that how they reveal the relation, as a point of penetration.
